Skum City and the SJW Weirdos of the NY Punk Scene
From September 2015 to September 2018 I was the singer for a hardcore punk band called Skum City. The band was founded by a husband/wife team in 2007, and had gone through several line up changes by the time I joined. I wrote/recorded an EP with them titled Mass Grave in early 2018 but it is no longer available. The only track still online is "Double-Edged Dildo" which we donated to a charity compilation to help cancer survivors. It was pretty fun, got played on the radio at least once, but a number of weird things led to the end that project. First, the drummer we had been playing with suffered some sort of breakdown and challenged me to a fight at our next show. A few months later, I publicly supported a Supreme Court nominee maligned with baseless rape allegations. This really pissed off the leftists, communists, and socialists who try to control the NYC punk scene, including the remaining two members of Skum City.
The wife texted me I was out of the band and they never spoke to me again... So I guess I'm a little bitter that people who I worked closely with for years, and who I considered to be close friends, would throw me under the bus as these promoters were silencing "problematic" opinions. It was an eye-opening experience and I became more dedicated to fighting back against these "social justice warrior" hypocrites and weirdos that have overrun mainstream news, silicon valley, movies, music, comics, etc.
