When I was 16-17 years old (2000-2001) I was the singer for Slanted View, a heavy metal band. We played mostly at the Voodoo Lounge on Bell Blvd in Queens NYC. We disbanded shortly after the venue shut down due to a stabbing (the site later became a crappy Karaoke place and is currently a dry cleaners). On Dec. 27, 2000, Slanted View went into the studio and recorded some of our heaviest songs. Mike Kaabe plays drums on the EP.

One of our more memorable moments was when guitarist Carl brought a fog machine onstage. It malfunctioned during our set and we ended up playing through a cloud of smoke! Our first gig was pretty interesting too: Me, Bobby, Mike I., and a dude named Chris were the closing act at our High School talent show in 2000. I dressed in a tattered gym uniform (see pic below) and started with Queen's "We Will Rock You." As we launched into "MachineHead" by Bush, all our friends who performed that night came on stage and jumped around with us. This prompted the audience to rush the stage, and girls even started throwing their bras at us! It was so much fun =D A teacher tried to pull the curtain on us but let us finish with "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

SLANTED VIEW (Hunt)
aka "Pulsing" or "Leech" Leech! You have to turn to me, and you know you see it Just believe... You have to turn to me The struggle loser, I drag you closer I'll make the most of our time together Suffering... Won't get away Suffering... Sexually You will grab onto me You will grab onto me for safety It's funny how things change and sometimes rearrange You'll never be the same it's funny how things change You see the light, give up your fight Take you inside, control your life... Pulsing! KILL SQUAD (Weyant, Iadarola) a.k.a. "Veer" or "The Masses" Blood pumps through your veins, adrenaline flows through your mind Tension in the air makes it seem like your living a nightmare Feel of the armor on my body now makes me run wild Look in his eyes says he's cold as stone I take a step to the two, imaginary line has my view Where I veer right through you... Are you scared yet? Running right through you, Shoulder to the ground Instinctual movements Never looking back cause they're all eating dirt Sweat pours off your face the goal, a mirage, can't fall short Keep the pace! Standing triumphantly before all my foes Passion fills my soul, it contains my heart like no one knows "Believe it or not people, this song is actually about FOOTBALL!! Leave it to Carl to make a song about football! This song is meant to pump you up for any occasion and get some adrenaline in you!" - Mike I. PAY THE PRICE (Weyant, Iadarola) When you were a kid you used to steal from your parents Used to take everything that wasn't given to you By the age of fourteen, you were known as a maniac But what would you do when he opens up the doors for you You pay the price, You say goodbye to your life Hell's doors are open waiting for the antichrist You pay the price, Your life is fucking clear Hell's doors are open for you let me get you through them On your first week of marriage you committed adultery Broke all ten commandments and all the laws that ever were Scum like you should be erased from the earth But what would you do when he opens up for you Well this is it, it's all over now There's no turning back, it doesn't matter anyhow You had your chance in life and you blew it So now the doors are open let me get you runnin through them |

RENDEZVOUS WITH THE DEVIL (Iadarola) Part 1 of 2
Step inside and you will see things you dread come from me Those who come here they shall pay with pain, remorse and agony Lines are running down your face, tears of sorrow, all shall play Spin the dice, roll the wheel, imagining this can't be real Hellish screams, howling out, stuck here always, without a doubt Seething, bleeding, open wounds, now I am the same as you Closing my eyes now, cannot see, what is overcoming me? Is it destiny? Is it fate? Nothing to do now, just too late Follow me little one, your torment isn't nearly done, Always hot and always bright, for every day and night. To look around and realize, that this is where I'm gonna die, To see that my life is hell, to bid my older life farewell "Well where do I start? This project took me 9 months to complete, and by your first look at its WHOPPING 9:48 timeframe, you can see this is a big one. It basically tells the tale of a man who has done wrong in his life, and now is going to hell. The dialouge switches in the second verse to the devil. This song has never been played live due to its INSANE length. Hopefully it will someday. The saga of this tale DOES have a part two to it however..." - Mike I. FROM THE DARKEST OF PITS (Iadarola) Part 2 of 2 Why do I keep going on? Something inside keeps me strong Turning back now just seems right, going forward just seems wrong Life has become death to me... How should I go through with this? From the back of my poor brain, howl from the abyss... Eternal struggle going on and on Eternal madness going on and on Seclusion, only being with one Staying up until the crack of dawn Seclusion, only being with one How would you like to be that one? Well come on, come on, come on, RUN Find yourself inside of me, differences are left behind Break through all the limits set, I am not the one who's blind Thought this had all gone away, here I find it's not the end Made a mess of what I had, here it comes again... Now I stand before a grave and here I find my name displayed Only thing I would have changed is not to live with all this rage I have sunk unto the depths, torn apart by all the hate Cannot crawl back out again... My judgement awaits... "well if you have read the discography for "Rendesvouz With the Devil" you will probably remember me babbling about a second part to that little (and I use the word loosely!) saga. Well BAM! Here it is! The structures of the two songs do show VERY similar structures. I mean WOW pretty damn close huh? The timeframe is about 7:16 and is definetly a pain in the ass to pull off. Nobody has probably noticed this yet, "why is the tuning dropped a whole step from Rendesvouz?" Well I'll tell you! I always like to put a twist on my songs, and I DO have a reason for EVERYTHING! The tuning drops because he is dropping further into hell..." - Mike I. HOLLOW END (Iadarola) a.k.a. "The Fight to Die" Nowhere to go and be by myself, nowhere to go and hide my face Nowhere to go and be ashamed, can't ever be the same Nowhere to go away... I Said go away... I Said leave me be... With my misery... The fight to die Nowhere to go and cover up and lie (die) No way to know how to say goodbye No more reasons to try Its time to count my days So my misery stays You cannot tame me... I will live on... "Here's an interesting fact that probably nobody knows, the title of this song was taken from a poem I (MiKE) wrote. The Hollow End Fowards,Inevitability Gets Harder To Triumph Over, Death Is Eminent. Now for the info on the actual song. Well here's an odd theme for you, no its not Suicide again! It tells the story of a deranged schitzophrenic individual in a mental hospital. Y'know, the whole "circle room padded wall" type. The structure of the song took mold to the theme behind it. As the title of the song is a contradiction in itself, and the actual guitars of the song start off with some wierd things going on anyway. The line "nowhere to go and beat myself" seems odd at first, then remember the writer is somewhat deranged as well..." |
