Welcome to the Vaughn Bode Digital Archive!
This project aims to publish the unseen artwork and writings of legendary comix artist Vaughn Bodē. I am working directly with Vaughn's son, Mark Bodē, to edit and annotate the first volume of a book series, which will hopefully see release in late 2019. Over the last several years, I have scanned countless drawings and journal entries from Mark's files. We're looking forward to finally sharing them with you all. Check back soon!
Vaughn Bodē (1941-1975) was a graphic animator in the underground comics scene of the 1960's and early 70's. With most of his groundbreaking work out of print for decades, the Bode Archive was created to preserve Vaughn's legacy and share his mind-bending art with the world!

RBCC and the Buyers Guide adzines Tales from the Ozone (machines) an issue of Mediascene about Vaughn Vaughn Bode passed away just after completing work on his long-running Deadbone/Erotica series. Interestingly, Vaughn was in the middle of writing a storyline in his National Lampoon strip where title character Cheech Wizard comes back to life after having succumbed to an accident. Although he did not live to see it, Vaughn's character's have become a staple of graffiti writers for decades now, and has achieved a lasting impact on the art world. His son Mark Bode carried on his father's legacy through his own art.. |
